    Kompanion discussed principles of socially responsible lending with the world community

    Kompanion’s CEO participated in the first Smart Campaign summit that took place in early August in Turin, Italy. The event brought together the CEOs of 24 microfinance institutions from 16 countries worldwide that were certified by the Smart Campaign.     Kompanion supports the development of preschool education in Kyrgyzstan’s remote regions

    Kompanion supports Jailoo Kindergartens Project second year in a row, the purpose of which is to ensure vulnerable segments of population with equal access to the preschool education. In kindergartens on the jailoo, children of animal breeders, who spent the summer in remote mountainous areas, will get the basic knowledge and complete the specially developed educational program. The project organizer is Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation.

    Prime Minister J. Otorbaev: “Attraction of direct Dutch investments to financial sector of the Kyrgyz Republic is very important to the country’s economy”

    Today, 23rd of March, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Joomart Otorbaev met with representatives and investors of Kompanion Financial Group Microfinance CJSC. The Prime Minister mentioned at the opening of a meeting that in view of economic situation in the region attraction of direct Dutch investments to financial sector of the Kyrgyz Republic is very important to the country’s economy. “This will be a good example in terms of investment into economy of Kyrgyzstan,” Joomart Otorbaev underlined.

    Kompanion Financial Group provided assistance to residents of Batken Oblast who were affected by fire

    Kompanion Financial Group rendered support to residents of Batken Oblast who lost their summer houses in fire on Bulak-Bashy djayloo located in the border area. For the purpose of providing assistance, Kompanion allocated funds tobuy and to deliver nine tents for families that were left homeless. On March 3, 2015 Erkinbek Jumabaev, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Kompanion Financial Group, met with residents of Batken Oblast in Bujum village and handed over the purchased tents to the affected families.

    Kompanion Financial Group completes equity raise with investment from FMO and Triodos Investment Management

    Kompanion Financial Group, one of the largest microfinance institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic both by loan portfolio and number of clients, has concluded an equity raise selling a 35% stake to international investors. The shares were purchased by Netherlands based investors FMO and Triodos Investment Management, with the latter investing through Triodos Fair Share Fund and Triodos Microfinance Fund. Kompanion’s founder Mercy Corps will remain majority shareholder and hold a 65% stake. The funds will be used for growth capital in the lending operations and support Kompanion’s transformation to a licensed banking institution.
