    DEVELOPMENT FAIR IN PAPAN VILLAGE

    On March 19th, 2013, the local development fair in Papan village of Osh oblast was held.
     
    The Papan sub office started its work in February 2008, and now with a total staff of three employees, it serves more than 800 clients. The population of the region is mostly involved in agriculture and cattle breading, but the region is also known for their apple orchards.

    UZGEN BRANCH TAUGHT FARMERS AND SPECIALISTS OF RURAL DISTRICTS TO MAKE COMPOST

    Spring is advancing and sowing works are in full swing. Meanwhile the contributions of our Development Department to the development of communities was highly estimated by local self-government and in February our Uzgen branch received an official letter with the request to participate in the workshop on sowing works. Our agronomists were offered to hold trainings on compost and using it during crop sowing.

    KfW AND THE KR MINISTRY OF FINANCE PROVIDE KOMPANION WITH FUNDS FOR NEW HOUSING FINANCE PRODUCT

    KfW, the German Development Bank, and the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Finance shall provide Kompanion with funding to launch a housing product that will improve access to housing finance for low and middle income families. The funds are provided within the Housing Finance Program of KfW and the Kyrgyz Republic.  The agreement was signed in Bishkek on Junе 18, 2013.

    KOMPANION HELD CLEANING DAYS IN CHILD-CARE INSTITUTIONS ACROSS KYRGYZSTAN AS A PART OF "THE GREEN SHOOTS OF THE FUTURE" CAMPAIGN

    In April and May of 2013 Kompanion held cleaning days in orphanages and boarding schools across Kyrgyzstan. The purpose of the campaign was to plant seedlings in these youth institutions in 12 regions of Kyrgyzstan.
     
    Since its launch in 2011, The Green Shoots of the Future campaign has sent Kompanion employees to visit child-care institutions each year to help with cleaning and to monitor the growth of previously planted trees, and to give further instructions of how to take care about young plants.

    Joint Legal Entities ‘Kyrgyzstan Union of Banks’ awards are acknowledgements of the efforts that individuals make to the contribution to development of banking and microfinance sector and to the activities of the Union of Banks. The award ceremony was held within the framework of the II Bishkek Leasing
    Forum which took place on May 24 and was timed to May 10, the Bankers Day and the 20th  anniversary of introducting the national currency – Kyrgyz Som-.

    BUSINESS SECTOR OF THE COUNTRY OPPOSE THE BILL ABOUT USURY

    A new bill about usury was recently initiated by the Ata-Meken faction that equates microfinance institutions and credit unions to ordinary usurers.

     

    Experts unanimously claim that the bill contradicts market rules that will boost the development of the economy, deteriorate the international rating of the country, reduce the volume of direct investments and reverse the country's growth by 10 years.

    On the 5th of February, 2013 a conference was held at the Institute of Politics Development. The conference was devoted to the latest changes made in the recent usury bill.
